City Council President Attends Democratic Convention

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Jamestown's City Council president is a proud member of the New York state delegation at the national Democratic Convention.

On Tuesday, Greg Rabb, D-At-Large, told The Post-Journal, after the convention ended for the night, that he is honored to be representing Jamestown on a national stage. Rabb was invited by U.S. Rep. Brian Higgins, D-South Buffalo, to be a member of the state's delegation.

''I'm excited to be the only Jamestown delegate. I'm very proud to represent our community,'' he said.

''I'm excited to be sitting in the New York state delegation," Rabb continued. "I'm excited to be in the same delegation as the former President (Bill) Clinton, who will be speaking here (tonight).''

Rabb said this is his first national Democratic Convention. He has attended the state's convention before. He is enjoying all the activities that go along with the convention, from going to caucus meetings to hearing all the speakers.

''There has been a series of very good speakers reminding us to why President (Barack) Obama should be re-elected,'' he said. ''I think all the speeches have been great, especially the one ending the night from the first lady (Michelle Obama) reminding us why we need to re-elect President Obama and Vice President (Joe) Biden. She certainly believes we need another four years.''

Rabb said he will be in Charlotte, N.C., until Friday, with plans to listen to former President Clinton tonight and then President Obama on Thursday.

''The thing I'm looking forward to the most is the president,'' he said. ''Not only to see him accept the nomination, but to find out what he has planned to do in his second term.''
